Benjamin Zephaniah
is a Jamaican born British poet, writer and
musician. He is best known for his works for
children and also his vociferous left of
centre approach to political and social
issues. Earlier this year the Queen and
British Prime Minister Tony Blair, added him
to the Honours list to be awarded an OBE for
services to the Arts. Zephaniah’s response
“Me? I thought, OBE me? Up yours, I
thought….No way, Mr. Blair. No way, Mrs.
Queen.”.
