WWW,
TODAY - Thank you for your interest in
reading about possibilities to help out the
Dubroom and it's cause of promoting (DUB)
Reggae and/or Consciousness. Yes, indeed:
there are several things one can do to
contribute to the Dubroom and who knows,
perhaps there's something for you as well.
Please only read further when you are
seriously willing to see if you are able to
contribute to the Dubroom. And no that's not
talking money. In all other cases, click HERE.
Ever since
the Dubroom went online in the 20th Century
(1997), the website has grown from a humble
homepage with original Reggae Midi Files to
the rather large site that it is today.
There are several sub-sites to serve several
points of interest that may not altogether
be of interest to the more than thousand
visitors every day, even though the
navigation makes it rather easy to visit
from one sub-site to the other.
Steady
observation throughout the many years of the
Dubroom's existence shows, that there is not
really one part of the website that draws a
significantly higher or lower number of
visitors than other parts. You may be
surprised, but there are as many people
interested in a tutorial on how to create
Reggae Music than there are to get a free
and legal MP3 file from let's say Ziggy
Marley. The visitors of the more informative
parts of the Dubroom like the Babylon
Observer or the Center for Research on
Christianity are as large in number as the
ones who visit the site for the musical
aspect. We're happy to serve all of them.
We?
Yes.
The major
part of the work done on DUBROOM.org is the
result of action by it's editor, but to
think this is really a one-man project is
not just an overstatement, it's simply not
true. First of all there are many people who
make it possible for the editor to do his
work and that ranges from private -and
therefore outside of the spectrum of this
website- individuals and supporters to
providers of material like musical releases
or something else that can be found back at
the website.
Depending
on your possibilities and yes, your
intentions, the following list of
suggestions might contain something that
appeals to you, or it might make you think
of something else in which case you can
always CONTACT
the Dubroom. A general principle is that for
several reasons the Dubroom prefers to
release free material but gladly links to
buyable stuff in reviews. This is about
promoting (DUB) Reggae Music and/or
Consciousness, not about promoting Messian
Dread or even the Dubroom. Contributing to
the Dubroom should always be seen as an
indirect contribution to the readers,
visitors and users of this website.

You can
supply the Dubroom with material for review
and inclusion in Radio Dubroom or Radio
Dubroom Extra. When your label releases
(DUB) Reggae preferably of the conscious
kind, that is. Use the CONTACT
page and if possible, include a download
link. This link will not be shared, but a
review and/or airplay is not guaranteed.
Unlike other websites, we do not pay nor do
we get paid for anything we review or play.
We do apprecilove every serious promotion at
the Dubroom Message Boards, though!
MUSICIANS
TO
TOP
Yes, what
goes for labels goes for musicians, too. But
there's a little more and that has to do
with Dubroom Productions. When you think you
can seriously add something to what is
currently produced in the Dubroom studio and
released through the website and you have
the possibility to record your works so that
it can be used in the studio, please use the
CONTACT
page.
So, how
could "seriously add" be seen? A
more general response to that would be:
evidently raising the quality of the music
that is currently produced. This is
something that usually is rather obvious for
both parties involved, but let's just say
you know what you are doing and this can be
verified, while you have a serious and
positive desire to help our productions grow
in quality.
An
example.
You're
in-between a studio period and a planned
tour, and for some reason -you're browsing
the Net or you've heard a Dubroom tune or
just know (about) this site- you feel like
you want to donate some of these recordings
you did before but were not good enough for
your own releases, yet you -and we- know
that it would lift up productions from this
studio.
PRODUCERS
TO
TOP
A lot of
what was written to the labels and artists
can be read by producers as well but -yes-
there's a little more which has to do with
the Dubroom's Net Label. The word
"label" should be taken very, very
loosely as there is absolutely no money
making involved or dodgy contracts to be
dealt with. It's more a way of presenting
music that we are grateful to be able to
present.
We would
love to include some of your material,
especially when it is of a higher quality
than that produced in the Dubroom studio. It
could very well be that you have these Dub
tracks that you don't want to release on
your own label or outlet for one reason or
another but you still know they would be a
blessing to visitors and users of the
Dubroom, or (DUB) Reggae lovers in
general.
Please use
the CONTACT
page when you know you are willing and
able to do this.
PROMOTERS
TO
TOP
Use the CONTACT
page to send in your press releases
about upcoming events world-wide and make it
clear that you would like this to be
published through the Dubroom. A better
thing is, to actually join the Dubroom
Message Boards and start posting it
yourself.
PUBLISHERS
TO
TOP
The Dubroom
is always interested in publications, and
that's not just books. Anything related to
(DUB) Reggae and/or Consciousness as you can
find it more or less defined throughout the
entire website in a consistent form,
anything that does contribute to the insight
and knowledge visitors and users of the
Dubroom can find here, is welcome.
Next to
Music and Artists, we review Books, Video's,
Software/Soundware and Websites. Use the CONTACT
page to tell us about your publication
and we'll take it from there.
USERS/VISITORS
TO
TOP
You're not
actively involved in the production of music
or anything else, at least not in a way that
you think would actually contribute to
anything that the Dubroom reviews or
releases and with that, other visitors and
users. You simply enjoy (some aspects of)
what the Dubroom has to offer, or it
actually serves you.
Could be,
that you happen to like some Dubroom
Productions or you've benefited from that
eternally unfinished tutorial on making Dub
with computers. Perhaps you've been reading
one of these books we've published and it
helped you out or one of these articles that
you really have that opinion about.
No, this is
not the point wherein you are asked for a
donation of the monetary kind.
This is the
point where you are asked to simply go to
one or more of the Dubroom's blogs and leave
your comments/feedback. You can do so
anonymously and without any form of
registration so all it cost you is a bit of
time and typing movements.
What is
even better: join the Dubroom
Message Boards and start posting
your replies and even own postings.
Public
feedback is one of the best ways for
users/visitors of the Dubroom to actually
contribute.
VOCALISTS
TO
TOP
The fact
that you are mentioned, in itself needs no
further explanation. The Dubroom is always
looking for (acapella recordings by)
serious, talented, skilled and preferably
(semi) professional vocalists to legally use
in our (free) releases. Where we can, we
obtain licenses but a Dub Plate costs around
250 Euro and perhaps more for releases
Dubroom-style, so that's not something to
buy every day.
Use the CONTACT
page when you're interested and you know
that we would be too. Please do not use this
as a way to promote yourself but as a way to
helping (us) promote (DUB) Reggae of
preferably the conscious kind. No slackness
or dancehall, no blasphemy, but you already
know that.
WRITERS
TO
TOP
Writers and
reviewers would be a better description but
then it didn't match the alphabetical order
in which this list is presented. Yes, we're
looking for writers and reviewers who can
add to the hundreds of articles and reviews
you can find on the Dubroom. Please do not
see this possibility to contribute as a way
to promote yourself, even though that could
be a side effect. We do not pay and we do
not want to be paid to put anything on the
site.
Use this
feature when you genuinely think you can add
something of value to the users/readers of
the Dubroom. When you think it serves the
purpose of promoting (DUB) Reggae and/or
Consciousness as more or less defined
consistently throughout the entire website,
please use the CONTACT
page and mail your article/review to the
Dubroom. Tell us how/if you want to be
credited, and you will get a response in
case your article will be published.
One Love,
Messian Dread (Editor, Dubroom)
