WWW,
June 7 2014 - It's been a while since my
last update, even though it hasn't been
quiet in the Dubroom lately. Still, it's
time for an update about this-and-that since
too many things a gwaan where others are
simply new.
First of
all, I am typing this into the memory of a
brand new computer. It's a powerful machine
but given the fact it came with Windows 8, I
have yet to see the real power. Getting
Reason 3.0 working and seeing how it
supposedly eats like 6 gigabytes of RAM is
quite an experience but in the end, after
tweaking and learning I will get the darn
thing to work. After all, the reason for
this brand new machine I'm working on now is
to further expand my new musical sound.
New
Sound
Probably
you will have noticed that the two most
recent releases from the Dubroom Studio/Net
Label have quite a different sound than the
ones released before that. Yes, it's a new
sound which has been brewing in my mind and
soul for the last years. I was totally fed
up with the things I did, sound-wise. Still,
I wasn't ready for a next step: a situation
which lasted several years. In itself
nothing strange: I've been continually releasing
music since around 1997 so it's not bad to
take a few steps back at the moment you just
know you're not ready.
Then, all
of a sudden, I released "Dillinger
- Dub the Wicked", a tune in my old
sound. It had a short phrase by Dillinger
which I obtained and this particular release
kind of triggered me to make some drastic
changes in the sounds and the effects. I
knew what I wanted to do and I decided that
I was ready to invest in some licenses.
As said, as
done.
The last
weeks I have produced over twenty tracks, of
which I have released four thus far. I'm
working hard on the sound but then I ran
into the fact I needed and could get a new
computer so now I'm working hard to
overstand Windows 8 as I could not
one-on-one migrate all my settings and
sounds. Things will settle as always...
I don't
really want to say too much about the things
I'm working on, but the last two releases
give a hint as to what direction everything
is turning. I've been getting positive
feedback in private circles (no, not my
family) and this is truly encouraging. Let
me just say I want to release an album later
in the year, and perhaps more. Albums, not
years, that is.
New
Site-Look
You will
also have noticed that the Dubroom website
was kind of just sitting there without
anything really happening. This is changed
as well. When you're reading this on the
Dubroom website, you will notice that the
look is totally different and there are no
advertisements whatsoever. No ads is better
for your privacy and for the speed wherein
pages are loaded. It's so much better this
way.
This whole
renovation of the Dubroom website was as necessary
as updating my sound. But then, the Dubroom
isn't a small site and the changes I had in
mind and which are now implemented were kind
of complex. I've tried to make a lay out
which suits everyone, from 800*600
resolution to widescreen, while enhancing
the navigation through the site.
While the
new look and navigation is there, the
renovation is not really done. But then, the
Dubroom is an ongoing project and so there
will always be a thing or two under
construction. At this moment though, my
priority is with the works in the studio
both online and offline.
Let me
conclude this little update by saying that
where I used to share everything I had
planned, I think that I have now learned not
to do it as quick. It's biblical as well,
cause we can't really plan our tomorrow and
instead have to find out what Jah's will for
us is, right here and right now.
One Love,
