Propellerhead
Software discontinued their product
"REBIRTH". It was the forerunner
of REASON, and is now available for free
download from a website called the Rebirth
Museum. In the same time, Propellerhead
released a REBIRTH REFILL for Reason 3.0 and
beyond.
Time for a little comparance.
When Propellerhead discontinued Rebirth
and created the Rebirth Museum, they pleased
a lot of people. Not only those who allready
had REASON and the latest computers, also
those who some older material could now
create some really cool beats and licks with
this simulator of the Roland products.
Are there people who are completely
satisfied with REASON and wouldn't even
bother downloading REBIRTH as well? Yes,
most likely there are those people.
Propellerhead created a REFILL especially
for them. It's available for free download
from the Propellerhead website.
The
ReFill isn't quite the same as the Rebirth
Software. It contains a collection of
combinator files wrapped around all the
samples from the Rebirth Software as well as
the sounds from an impressive list of
Rebirth Mods. These mods all had their own
skins as well, which have gone lost in the
ReFill.
Same goes for the two synthesizers in
Rebirth. They're not in the ReFill. Why, oh
why did Propellerhead make this ReFill
anyway? Are there really people who would
consider uploading the Rebirth ReFill to
their Reason engine? Well, I wish them good
luck.
When you're in need for the Rebirth Sounds,
just the sounds, perhaps the ReFill is any
good. But for all other purposes, I would
truly suggest downloading Rebirth and
hooking it up with Reason through the
Rebirth Input Machine. You have to get used
to Rebirth as a software, you have to create
and save your rhythms in Rebirth as well,
but good things don't come easy.
