Greetings!
Both on- and off-line, people have expressed
their anger towards the "hackers" who
came with referances to Aryans, Iran and with what
looked like Muslim Frases to express their
identity. After an initial anger, posted on the
Dubroom Frontpage, determination took over and
over 200 articles have been transferred to this
section. Twelve hours of work... But the
information is back online!
There are still a lot of places on the Dubroom
where referances to the news portal have to be
deleted or changed to this section. Other features
of the News Portal will also be put on the website
in the coming time.
There wasn't really any other option then to
stop building the News Portal. Sure, there are
"firewalls" so to speak, but there were
some tech-problems preventing the instalation of
such programs.
The Dubroom's Interactive News Portal was built
with a software "PHP NUKE". The version
used was 6.0, which was a pretty archaic version.
However, the hosting provider for the Dubroom
(Yahoo.com) has some limitations which became
painfully appearant pretty soon after the software
was installed.
PHP Nuke versions later than 6.0 use certain
files with no filename, just with an extension.
These files can not be uploaded to the Dubroom
server. It turned out, that the earliest
"Firewall" for PHP Nuke was for version
6.5... And updating PHPNUKE 6.0 to 6.5 turned out
to be impossible.
The main reason why the News Portal was
established in the first place, was more or less
described in the title "Dubroom
Interactive". It was the intention, to create
a "dynamic heart" in the website, where
it was easier for guests and others to post
articles to the News Desk. After all, much of the
material on the Dubroom comes from people who
submit news and articles. The attack by the
"hackers" was then also to be seen as an
attack straight to the heart...
Fortunately, the Portal was still under
construction. Just imagine, that this same thing
happened when 1000's of articles would have been
posted! But since this dynamic heart wasn't yet
fully functional, not everything is lost.
