In Feburary 1980, I jumped into my barely running
orange 1970 BMW 2002 and drove into NYC to the
Ritz to see Steel Pulse. WBAI was simulcasting the
show, so I plugged in my reel to reel into the
stereo, tuned it to WBAI and plugged it all into a
lamp timer. Low tech, and all I could do was hope
for the best.
Needless to say the show was great and I did,
indeed, capture it on my reel. Over the years its
been one of my favorite tapes. I doubt you'll hear
this one anywhere else.
