The VERSIONIST.com website is a very lively one.
Literally thousands of tracks created by a wide
variety of artists can be downloaded, and the
artist community on the website contains a big
number of engaged people who are expressing
themselves on the website's forum.
In one thread, the discussion
was about "what exactly is Reggae
anyway?" and needless to say that this
topic had the interest of many participants. After
many aspects were covered, one artist came up with
the idea of having a "Dub Duel" in the
style of Scientist vs. Jammy's and started to
"challenge" Messian Dread. Some 12 hours
later, it turned out that more artists were
willing to join in this project and after some
negotiations, the "World Dub War" was a
fact...
At the moment this news item is written, there
is still some
debate about the music itself. The majority of
participants prefer to make their own
interpretation of the well known classic "Ali
Baba Riddim" where there is also some
mention of producing original material.
Around the end of december 2005, the music will
be available for download. The Dubroom will keep
